Introduction to antel Certification

INMETRO is the national Accreditation Body of Brazil and is responsible for formulating Brazilian national standards. Most of the product standards in Brazil are based on IEC and ISO standards. Manufacturers who need to export their products to Brazil should refer to these two sets of standards when designing their products. All products that meet Brazilian standards and other technical requirements must bear the mandatory INMETRO mark and the mark of an approved third-party certification body before they can enter the Brazilian market.

The application of the INMETRO logo can be divided into two categories: mandatory and voluntary. Certificates for these two categories are issued by certification bodies (CB). In addition, the Brazilian government also stipulates that some products must bear energy efficiency labels (smiley face labels). Such certificates are directly issued by INMETRO, and certification bodies are not involved.
