New mandatory certification regulations for power banks and portable power sources in the Philippines

Mandatory battery certification in Malaysia
Malaysia implements mandatory SIRIM certification for battery products, which is carried out by SIRIM QAS International. Since the release of the "Certification and Labeling Guidelines for Battery Energy Storage" in September 2025, all types of batteries (including lithium batteries, lead-acid batteries, nickel-based batteries, etc.) must be certified and affixed with the SIRIM safety label before entering the Malaysian market; otherwise, they cannot clear customs or be sold.

Big news! India's BIS new regulation: 62368-1:2023 Standard Implementation Guide has been implemented, covering 38 types of electronic products!
The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) released the IS/IEC 62368-1:2023 standard Implementation guidelines on March 9, 2026, in accordance with the announcement of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) of India on October 29, 2025. This standard will replace IS 13252 (Part1):2010 and IS 616:2017 as the mandatory safety standard for audio and video, information and communication electronic devices. November 1, 2028 will be the final transition period for the old standard. After that, the old standard will be officially abolished. All 38 types of electronic products involved must comply with the requirements of the new standard.

The new IATA DGR regulations on the state of charge of lithium battery goods in 2026
The requirement that the state of charge of pure lithium-ion battery cargo must not exceed 30% was initially vigorously promoted by the International Civil Aviation Organization and has been enforced for many years. The new regulations aim to balance safety and efficiency. This standard IS issued by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS).
