The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) issued guidance on product categories under the Mandatory Registration Scheme (CRS) on August 13, 2026, clearly stipulating the mandatory registration product categories and product names for wearable glasses and extended reality products.
The key points are as follows
This guideline is issued in reference to the products covered by the "Electronic and Information Technology Products (Compulsory Registration Requirements) Order 2021".
2. For wearable glasses such as audio glasses, smart glasses, AR glasses and MR Glasses, when applying, the corresponding product category, subcategory and product name should be selected for declaration as shown below:

3. Applications for extended reality products (augmented reality, virtual reality, mixed reality, etc.) should be submitted in accordance with the corresponding subcategories and product names as shown below:

Each specific product name listed in the second and third tables above must be granted an independent license respectively.
